Rusty Responds to 'Fan Mail' from Dubai

Here is a letter I received from Dubai. I thought you might like to read it. Notice how the self-proclaimed not an antisemite accuses me of being a J-O-O.

Dear sir,

Ive visited your website, n i read almost everything u have there. Dont u think ur too biased?

Karim,
Yes, I am biased. This is my personal website reflecting my personal opinions. By definition, then, this site is biased.

Im an arab muslim who lives in the United Arab Emirates, in Dubai.. You
probably odnt know where that is, cause Americans are too busy to think of
the outside world normally, unless it concerns energy probllems. Dubai is one of the only 5-Star cities in the world (There are only 5 5-star cities).

I know where the UAE and Dubai is. Nice place. I believe Michael Jackson is there now. Of course, by 'nice place' I mean nice as long as you stay within specially designated zones where we infidels are allowed to act like infidels. I'm not so sure I would like the rest of your country where I could not openly practice my chosen religion of South Park Universalistic Hedonism (Missouri Synod). I am required to shout 'Allah is a Buddhist' three times a day at the top of my lungs or I will be excommunicated.

Many foreigners live here, Including European and American people, who happen to love it here.

Personally I'm more into liberty than making a buck, but I understand the allure. The beaches, from what I've seen, look pretty kick ass. Any topless ones?

Dont you think you make us all sound like people who are ready to put guns to the heads of every american and kill them ?

No, I do not. I certainly hope not, at least.

I Have numerous American and English friends who would disagree. I love my american friends, ive lived with them almost all my life, we share respect and trust, and so do our families. We do not seperate Muslims from Christians (that is one of the biggest sins in Islam by the way), we do not see things that way.

I guess you are not a good Muslim then, or at least not a traditionalist, since the Quran and Hadiths explicitly place Christians not living in second-class dhimmi status as part of dar al-harb--a seperate nation. Perhaps you are a reform minded liberal Muslim who has rejected Sharia, most of the Hadiths, most traditional interpretations of the Quran, and has decided to join the 21st Century? I hope so.

We are all peacefull people, who happen to be ill-treated by your government.

Since when has the U.S. government done anything harmful to the people of the United Arab Emirites? Oh, by 'we' you mean 'Muslims'. I thought you didn't seperate people and that was like a big sin or something?

Look at Palestine. Israelis Have been destroying the homes of familes whos sons have suicide bombed places in Israel. U might think "hey, they deserveit, let the bastards take it all, "

Yes, I do. I only wish they made bigger tractors. Hey, how do you people in the UAE treat Jews? Oh, wait, all of them were forced to leave.

But What do u think it takes a man to decide to suicide and kill himself?! Lots of guts, and desperation.

Very true. And hatred. And faith that Allah will accept him into paradise for killing Jews.

Desperation caused by Israeli Forces who kill children and familes, and let kids watch their parents rot infront of them while they surround their house.

Then perhaps the fathers should not be terrorists? That would go a long way in solving that problem.

You dont know a thing about what we fell, you just look at the Israeli perspective.. your probably a jew too, and i dont mean it as an insult.

Again with the we thing. I don't take it as one. I'm not a Jew, although I'm cut, but I would count myself in good company if I was one. Did you know that Natalee Portman is a Jew? Not that it's important, but I'd definitely convert for a pice of that. And if you don't mean it as an insult, then why make the accusation? Unless you think there is something wrong with that?

You have to open your eyes. Your people are rated the most close-minded people on earth, and yes you are.

I'm sure the people of the UAE are much more open minded. I have a Bible, a Book of Mormon, a Theravada, and a Rig-Veda sitting around the office. How about I come to your country and pass them out on the street? Since your people are so 'open-minded' let's see what kind of reaction I would get.

12% Say US Troop Withdrawal Will Stop Terror Attacks

Looks as though "Momma" Sheehan doesn't even have a respectable minority that agree with "her" stance on Iraq.

August 26, 2005--Just 12% of Americans believe that withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq will stop terror attacks like the summer bombings in London. A Rasmussen Reports survey found that 71% disagree and say that troop withdrawal will not lead to an end of terrorist attacks.

The survey also found that 54% of Americans believe the situation will get worse in Iraq if U.S. troops are withdrawn. Twenty percent (20%) believe the situation will get better in Iraq if American troops leave, while 15% believe that bringing home the troops will have no impact.

Fifty-nine percent (59%) of men believe a troop withdrawal will make the situation worse. That view is shared by 48% of women.

There is a sharp partisan difference on this question. By a 4-to-1 margin, both Republicans and those not affiliated with either major party say that the situation will get worse in Iraq if U.S. troops are withdrawn.

Pretty low percentage considering that at least 12% of the population believe they have been abducted by aliens.

We Killed Fiddy al Qaeda

Are our soldiers as good as Cotton Hill claims? Apparently, yes. Fifty al Qaeda killed in single raid. AP:

U.S. warplanes launched multiple airstrikes Friday against a suspected "terrorist safe house" in the western Anbar province, destroying the building where up to 50 militants were believed to be hiding, the U.S. military said.

Coalition ground forces were alerted by local residents that a number of members of the terror group Al-Qaida in Iraq had gathered in an abandoned building northeast of Husaybah, near the Syrian border about 200 miles west of Baghdad.

Let's hope that bitch Zarqawi was among them. Hat tip to Chad Evans who notes that this is the second time this week that tips from locals have led to al Qaeda arrests/killings.

It's Time to Take al Sadr Out

Too often our University trained military officers and State Department employees overlook the lessons of WWII and buy into the myth of diplomacy. By conceding ground to Muqtada al Sadr in an effort to have him 'buy in' to the process of creating a nation, we have let a dangerous man create a radical Islamist fiefdom. From NRO:

Not long after, Sadr was implicated in a massacre in the gypsy village of Qawliya. His Mahdi army tried to abduct a woman accused of prostitution in order to try her in SadrÂ’s kangaroo religious court. When the men of the town resisted, 20 were killed and the town nearly leveled with machine guns, mortars, and RPGs, after which the survivors were beaten and tortured.

Sadr’s victims are not only his fellow Iraqis. The Mahdi army often attacks Coalition forces, on one occasion turning a Sadr City marketplace into a “300-meter-long-kill-zone” in a battle that claimed the life of Sgt. Yihjyh (Eddie) Chen. Many more Americans have died fighting his goons in Najaf and Karbala.

Sadr is accused of being a pawn of TehranÂ’s mullahs as well, helping them subvert the progress of Iraqi democracy. If military action is taken against IranÂ’s nuclear weapons program, SadrÂ’s Al-Mahdi militia could counterattack within Iraq.

One can only imagine how the restive Sunnis in central Iraq fear the prospect of SadrÂ’s growing influence. Why would they support a new Iraqi government that, favoring the Shiite majority as it must, might eventually make Sadr their de facto ruler?

Read it all. This Clinton W. Taylor dude is one sharp playah. It's surprising to learn he got through his grad school classes with an attitude like that. He must read the Jawa.

Two Senior Police Killed in Sinai Sweep

(Cairo, Egypt) According to the Egyptian Interior Ministry, two senior police officers were killed by land mines during the massive manhunt for terrorists in the Sinai.

From the Arab News:

Maj. Gen. Mahmoud Adel and Lt. Col. Omar Abdel Moneim were the highest ranked police officers killed in Egypt since a violent insurgency in the mid-1990s and the first slain since about 4,000 security personnel launched a massive sweep Sunday of the northern Sinai for suspects linked to July's triple Sharm El-Sheik attacks and October's bombings at the Taba and nearby Ras Shitan resorts.

Yesterday's blasts occurred after two land mines exploded on the 1,800-meter high Halal mountain, about 60 kilometers south of the Mediterranean coastal town of El-Arish, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.

On conditions of anonymity, officials stated that they believe fugitives, who traditionally hide in the Sinai's mountains, planted the mines. Egyptian security forces have detained 650 people thus far in the Sinai sweep which started last Sunday. A primary target still at large is Salem Khadr El-Shenoub, suspected of harboring terrorists linked to the Taba and Ras Shitan attacks.

Also worthy of mentioning is that the indigenous Bedouin tribesmen, steeped in knowledge of hideouts and smuggling routes, have emerged as key suspects sometimes and valuable informers at other times. However, in general, it's believed that the tribesmen collaborate with the terrorists at a level less than originally thought due to significantly different ideologies and interests. For instance, the autonomous Bedouins do not like to have the police looking at their affairs which is exactly what happens if they collaborate with the terrorists. So, unless there are family ties, I suspect the tribesmen don't provide a lot of help to the terrorists.

Protein Wisdom Emits Small Pearl About APSA

Next week is the annual APSA (American Political Science Association) convention, which will be held this year in Washington, DC. A number of us affiliated with The Jawa Report plan to attend, but we'll probably not be in the majority. The unofficial theme of this conference of PoliSci eggheads is something like: "Dare We Call It Fascism?" And you know what the "it" is.

So, given that situation I found this observation by Jeff Goldstein of Protein Wisdom darn near irresistible, bless his heart:

If it weren’t so very sad and transparent, it might just be amusing how many scholars in today’s progressivist academy purport to be “investigating” questions they are quite clearly begging, only to act “intrigued” by the cumulative “findings” they’ve so clearly predetermined.

Alas.

I'm planning to wear a small "stars and stripes" in my lapel pocket, just for the sheer Saul Alinsky in-your-face irony of it all. Anyone else willing to make the statement link to this post, or to the crosspost on Demosophia (or both) and we'll set up a meeting time and place. It'll be fun.

Update: Rusty has a better idea. Either leave a comment here, with your despammed email address or email me or Rusty.

The Rosary of the Left: Hail Cindy Sheehan, full of grace....

The Rosary of the the far left:

1) Make the Sign of the Ankh and say the "Leftist Creed."

I believe in Gaia, the Mother, who is the Spirit of earth; and in Casey, Her only Son, our fallen Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Lesbian Union of Gaia and Cindy, suffered under George W. Bush, was shot, died, and was buried. Mother Sheehan descended into Crawford, Texas; the third day she went back to California, only to reappear in Crawford. She will ascend into heaven after following around and pestering the Great Satan, and sit at the right hand of The Great Universal Spirit or Spirits (choose gender and number), the Almighty; from thence She shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in Noam Chomsky, the Holy Univerity Curriculum, the communion of all anti-establishment forces, the forgiveness of every one, especially those who don't change their ways, and the inevetable coming of the Communist Utopia. Amen.
2) Say the "Our Mother."
Our mother, who dwells in everything; hallowed be Thy name; Thy Socialist kingdom come; Thy will be done, or we will force it upon every one. Give us this day our daily organic bread; and no need to forgive us our tresspass since no one can own Mother Earth, and lead us not into corporate temptation; but deliver us from evil. Amen.
3) Say three "Hail Cindys."
Hail Cindy, full of grace, Gaia is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Casey. Holy Cindy, The Incarnation of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death at the hands of greedy multinational corporations and Zionist neocons. Amen.
4) Say the "Glory be to the Trinity."
Glory be to the Mother Earth, and to the Mother Earth Incarnate Cindy, and to the Holy Communion of all pre-Christian deities and New Age Universal Spirits. As it was in the beginning before mankind destroyed the Earth, and ever shall be after the overthrow of Bushhitler, world without end. Amen.
5) Announce the first mystery (The Annunciation of Cindy by the Channeled Spirit of Zorfor, a Third Century BCE Zorastrian Mystic) then repeat "Our Mother."

6) Say ten "Hail Cindys," while meditating on the Mystery of the Annunciation.

7) Say the "Glory be to the Trinity."

Announce the Second Mystery (The Visitation of Cindy Sheehan to the Students Against the War Rally at San Francisco State University); then say the "Our Mother." Repeat 6 and 7 and continue with Third (The Naivite), Fourth (The Presentation of the Uturus to Mother Earth) and Fifth (The Finding of Cindy at a Lecture by Edward Said) Mysteries in the same manner.

After the Rosary:

HAIL, HOLY QUEEN, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of losing every election; to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb. O clement, O loving, O sweet Mother Cindy!

Drum Circle Leader: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of Our Hopes.

Hippies Respond: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Marx.

Let us pray. O Gaia, whose only begotten Daughter, by Her life, Her son's death, and the resurrection of our hopes that this war will turn into another Vietnam, has purchased for us the rewards of political victory, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Cindy Sheehan, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Cindy Sheehan. Amen.
After each decade say the following prayer requested by the Blessed and Holy Ward Churchill: "O my Cindy, forgive the sins of the PNAC Zionist pigs and Imperialist aggressors who forced the brave freedom fighters of al Qaeda to kill the deserving collaboraters, save us from the fires of Guantanamo Bay, lead all souls to protest McChimpy's war, especially those who have most need of a bath, a job, and a steady dose of lithium. Amen."

TTLB Hijinks

Rusty notes that we've moved from 28th to 18th in one day, and he's skeptical. My individual blog leapt up 1,000 places in a day, and I've noticed some wild fluctuations in link numbers for Reynolds and Malkin. One possible explanation for all this is that NZ periodically cleans out the splogs, and bloggers purge their systems of spam, which alters the ecosystem's distribution and also changes the "species boundaries," which are probably based on statistical algorithms. The splog purges would tend to impact highly linked blogs more than those of us in the lower life forms, because the larger hit counts are more attractive to the spammers.

I'm not an expert here, and I'm not even sure how splogging works, but from a statistical standpoint it makes sense.

'Allies' in Yemen Threaten to Behead Journalist

Jane at Armies of Liberation has the scoop:

Jamal ‘Amir, editor in chief of the Yemenite independent weekly Al-Wasat said armed men blindfolded him, pushed him into a vehicle and took him to a remote location near the capital ‘Sana.

They beat him and threatened to cut off his tongue or to kill him and behead him, the London-based Al-Hayyat reported. He was released more than four hours laterÂ….

Just armed thugs, right? Maybe al Qaeda?
The assailants, dressed in plain clothes but driving a vehicle with military license plates, beat Amer and threatened to kill him. They warned Amer that his childrenÂ’s safety would be threatened if he continued with his investigative reporting or reported his abduction to the authorities. Reports say the assailants condemned Amer for writing on corruption within the government and interrogated him about other writers and editors at Al-Wasat.

Massive Manhunt on for Terrorists in Germany (UPDATE: Caught)

UPDATE: The men have been caught and they are Chechens.

Via ITB this from Reuters:

Three Chechen men who were overheard at a bus stop talking about becoming “heroes before Allah” were detained and questioned on Friday after sparking a major security alert in Germany, but police said they did not appear to have been planning an attack.

Hamburg police said the men, aged from 21 to 25, had been found after a manhunt in which more than 1,000 officers had thrown up overnight roadblocks and scoured GermanyÂ’s second city.

Hamburg police chief Reinhard Chedor told a news conference: “At the moment I don’t believe there were any concrete attack plans.” He said the men were being held for further questioning and declined to give further details.

------------------

Elections are coming up in Germany and Schroedder is trailing in the polls. Now is the time to get tough on terrorists. Notice the Clintonian policy of not starting a manhunt for the terrorists because police didn't want to interfere in a criminal investigation. Treating terrorism as common act of criminality is what gave us 9/11. Also, recall that Hamburg was at the center of the 9/11 plot. Radical Islamists roots run deep in that city.

LA Times:

More than 1,000 police officers were deployed Thursday to search for three suspected terrorists, a police spokesman said.

Roadblocks and controls were set up at 12 points in this northern port city after an Arabic-speaking witness overheard the men praising Allah and heroism Wednesday at a bus stop. One was carrying a backpack.

Police said the three men had been recorded by video surveillance cameras and their pictures would be released.

"We don't know at this point whether there is something to the tip or not," Hamburg state Interior Minister Udo Nagel said at a news conference. There were no concrete clues about any attack, he said.

The witness told police he heard one of the men use the phrase "heroism before Allah." The men then boarded a bus.

A police official said the launch of the search and release of information was delayed a day because the police did not want to jeopardize their initial criminal investigation.

And now GeeoorgeÂ….Stephanopoulos !!!!!!!

Sorry Sam I always wanted to do that. I see that when the former Clinton Administration advisor turned journalist George Stephanopoulos suggested that Saddam be Assassinated no one even raised an eyebrow.

"Assassination may be Clinton's best option," the future "This Week" host urged. "If we can kill Saddam, we should."... ..."If Clinton decides we can and should assassinate Saddam, he could call in national-security adviser Sandy Berger and sign a secret National Security Decision Directive authorizing it."

Well now that kind of puts the Robertson thing in perspective.

See here.

And here.

French University Publishes Top al Qaeda Speeches

Presses Universitaires de France has published a new book which documents the speeches of top al Qaeda leaders, including Osama bin Laden and Aymal al Zawahiri. LeMonde runs a full page review of the book, but pans it because the prose of Zawahiri can't really be compared to the genius of the Ayatollah Khomenei or with the Muslim Brotherhood's Sayyid Qutb--those guys really knew how to put antisemetism and islamofascist utopianism into words!.

And besides, says the Le Monde reviewer, how come the authors of the book didn't challenge al Qaeda's assertion that jihad is somehow a call for violence when every one know that jihad is an internal struggle thing, right?

You gotta love the French.......

Another al Qaeda Terrorist Captured in Iraq

As I've said a million times before, regardless of the reasons we went into Iraq, we are now fighting al Qaeda there. CENTCOM:

Coalition forces captured a known Al Qaeda-in-Iraq member, two suspected terrorists and destroyed a terrorist sanctuary, weapons and equipment near Al Asad Aug. 23.

Acting on tips from local Iraqis, Coalition forces raided the hide-out and confirmed that the location was being used by the terrorist to facilitate weapons and vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) operations.

After he was captured, the Al Qaeda-in-Iraq member provided information about related terrorist activity in the area. Based upon this information, Coalition forces captured two suspected terrorists. Coalition forces also captured and destroyed a VBIED and two weapons caches consisting of mortars, rockets and rocket propelled grenades.

And to my friend at Centcom--this is the kind of story we like to read.

Roadside Bomb Hits Russian Governor's Motorcade

Inguishitia_car.jpg

Ingushetia neighbors Chechnya and is racked by the same ROP inspired violence. Xinhua:

Two powerful explosions rocked a southern Russian republic Thursday afternoon, injuring the prime minister of the republic and killing one of his guards.

Ibragim Malsagov, the prime minister of Russia's North Caucasus republic of Ingushetia, was wounded in the leg in an assassination attempt in Nazran, the main city of the republic, at 2:25 p.m. Moscow time (1025 GMT), a regional interior ministry official was quoted by the Interfax news agency as saying.

Malsagov was rushed to hospital and doctors confirmed that his life was not in danger.

However, one of his guards was killed and at least two others were injured in the blasts.

Officials said attackers detonated two bombs as Malsagov's motorcade passed through central Nazran, with the first blast meant to divert attention.
